IGAD Migration Statistics Report (2010 - 2019)

The IGAD region is characterized by migratory movements driven by multiple political, economic, and environmental factors, hosting roughly 4.5 million refugees & asylum seekers, and around 12.3 million internally displaced persons the IGAD region ranks as one of the leading Migration host areas.

 In line with Objective 1 of the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly, and Regular migration, IGAD has embarked on the collection and utilisation of reliable, disaggregated migration &displacement data essential to inform evidence-based policy-making which offers lasting solutions for migrants, refugees, and IDPs in the region.
