THE IGAD REGIONAL LAND MONITORING REPORT

The IGAD region comprises the countries of Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan and Uganda. The region covers an area of about 5.2 million square kilometers with over 221.3 Million people who drive their livelihood primarily from semi-subsistence agriculture and pastoralism. Hence, land is a primary asset for survival and development in the region supporting these key economic activities for most rural population. Land is not only a source for livelihoods in the region but also a valuable economic asset.
