IGAD Stands by AMISOM, Against Terror

Djibouti, Wednesday 02 August 2015: The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) condemns the terrorist attack perpetrated yesterday against the African Union peace-keeping forces in Janale, South of Mogadishu.

“Our condolences go to the families of those brave peace-keepers of the African Union Mission to Somalia (AMISOM) who fell for the purpose of keeping Somalia and the IGAD region terror-free”: the Executive Secretary of IGAD, HE Ambassador Mahboub Maalim.

Ambassador Maalim reiterates IGAD commitment to stand by AMISOM, and all countries contributing to it, in its quest for a stable and strong Somalia. Ambassador Maalim praises the courage and dedication of the women and men in an AMISOM or Somali uniform for the fight against extremists’ violence and terror.
