(IGAD – Kampala) At a well attended press conference, the President of the Uganda National Chamber of Commerce and Industry announced that her country would be hosting a two-day conference starting tomorrow to revive the IGAD Business Forum emerging from a five-year lull.

Mrs. Olive Zaitun Kigongo flanked by her counterparts from Ethiopia, Kenya and Somalia read a joint statement stressing that regional integration will only be a reality through trade and investments. She urged the governments in the region to continue improving their relations and create enabling environments that would encourage free movement of people, products and services.

The conference to be officially opened by by the Minister for Trade, Industry and Tourism of the Republic of Uganda, Hon. Maj. Gen. Kahinda Otafire will be attended by Presidents and senior officials of Chambers of Commerce and Industry as well as government and other business representatives from all IGAD Member States including Djibouti and Sudan.
