DJIBOUTI, Djibouti, 03 August 2024 – The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) strongly condemns the heinous attack that occurred on Friday at Liido Public Beach in Mogadishu, Somalia. This tragic event resulted in the loss of innocent lives and left many others injured. The Executive Secretary, H.E. Dr. Workneh Gebeyehu, extends his deepest condolences to the families of the victims and wishes a swift and full recovery to those affected.
“We denounce this barbaric act of terror in the strongest terms. Such cowardly attacks will not undermine the resolve of the Somali government, its resilient people, or the region at large. Instead, it will strengthen our collective determination to rebuild Somalia and eliminate the scourge of terrorism,” stated H.E. Dr. Workneh.
