July 4, 2024 (Djibouti, Region of Djibouti): The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) Regional Migration Fund and representatives of the German Development Bank (KfW) team have concluded the ten days extensive joint technical review mission on the progress of the implementation of Regional Migration Fund project activities.
As part of the mission, the team conducted field visits to Moyale-Moyale and Ali-Sabieh and Ali-Addeh locations.
During this mission, IGAD and KfW jointly reviewed the status of project implementation, identified operational challenges and made recommendations for the future.
At the mission, IGAD, KfW and RMF implementation consultant agreed on the further verify and reassess the socio-economic benefits of planned infrastructure to be constructed, including, further check technical feasibility of the infrastructure, including sites selected and make necessary adjustments, as well as, clearly define the operation & maintenance of the infrastructure and ensure sustainable utilization and ensuring environmental and safety standards are well integrated in the construction process of the different infrastructure
IGAD, in partnership with the German government through the KFW development bank, launched the Regional Migration Fund in 2019 to address migration-related challenges and promote its potential. This fund invests in basic economic and social infrastructure and support initiatives in targeted areas of the IGAD region.
