June 4 2023, (DJIBOUTI-VILLE, Djibouti): The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) Health and Social Development Division commenced Joint Migration and Forced Displacement team planning and Review Meeting, in Djibouti.
The main objective of the three days meeting is to harmonize migration and forced displacement program and projects activities, results, build and improve teamwork as well as align migration and forced displacement plans to the IGAD Regional strategic objectives and implementation matrix and to upscale efforts and reflect on results through a participatory joint planning exercise.
In her opening remarks Madam Fathia Alwan Director of IGAD Health and Social Development Division highlighted that the continuous resource mobilization and development of timely, workable and implementable action plans by quarter is very decisive.
She also reminded “the team on the significance of program and finance team collaboration and back to office report after every mission which is useful for management and donors’’.
The meeting brought together migration and forced displacement project teams to collectively plan and review activities from the expanded portfolio of projects within the migration program.

The meeting expected to enable the project teams to revisit the coherence of interventions by the IGAD Migration and Forced Displacement Program area along the priority intervention areas and aims to identify areas of convergence of the IGAD migration project.
IGAD Migration and forced displacement Program Area has a portfolio of a number of projects addressing free movement, forced displacement and mixed migration, disaster displacement, policy implementation, cross border implementation and generation of data, learning and knowledge production.
IGAD migration and forced displacement initiatives, programs and actions are guided within global and international frameworks such as; the Global Compact for Migration, Global Compact for Refugees IGAD Regional Migration Policy Framework, Migration Action Plan.
