(IGAD- Djibouti, 06-19-2013) The Executive Secretary of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), Ambassador (Eng.) Mahboub Maalim has condemned this morning’s attack on the UNDP compound in Mogadishu, Somalia  by Al-Shabab terrorist group.

“IGAD unreservedly condemns this brutal and senseless attack on the people of Somalia,” Ambassador Maalim said. 

The Executive Secretary expressed IGAD’s unwavering support to the people and the government of Somalia. “Such cowardly attacks will not deter us from our effort for a stronger and stable Somalia,” he said.

The Executive Secretary reiterated IGAD’s strong resolve to continue its support for Somalia’s Army and AMISOM in their fight against the Al-Shabab terrorist group.

The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) is an organization of eight countries in the Horn of Africa focused on regional cooperation on development, agriculture, environment and peace.
