19-10-2018, Djibouti (Djibouti): The Executive Secretary of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), Amb (Eng) Mahboub Maalim, has expressed deep sadness upon receiving the news of the passing away of Mr. Abdel Rahman Suwar al-Dahab, former President of Republic of the Sudan.
Amb Maalim said that “Mr. Al-Dahab will be remembered as a celebrated leader both at home and abroad for his illustrious contribution to the Republic of Sudan as well as his deep commitment to the ideals of peace and democracy”.
“He was also one of the founding fathers of IGAD having served as the President of Sudan during the time of the organization’s establishment in 1986”, the message continues.
Amb Maalim conveyed his heartfelt condolences and that of the IGAD family to Mr. Al-Dahab’s family as well as the government and people of the Republic Sudan.
