May 8, 2024 (Addis Ababa, Ethiopia): The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) and the government of Sweden have signed a grant agreement to safeguard and offer comprehensive solutions for forcibly displaced persons within the IGAD region, today, in Addis Ababa.
The agreement was signed by IGAD Executive Secretary, Dr. Workneh Gebeyehu, and Ambassador of Sweden to Ethiopia, and Djibouti, accredited to IGAD, Hans Henric Lundquist.
During the signed grant agreement the IGAD Executive Secretary Dr.Workneh highlighted that the partnership reaffirms IGAD and Sweden unwavering commitment to safeguarding and offering comprehensive solutions for forcibly displaced persons within the IGAD region.
“My sincere thanks go out to the Government of Sweden for their steadfast support as we join forces to address this critical issue.” He added.
Ambassador Hans Henric Lundquist on his part explained that the new signed grant agreement with IGAD is a firm support of closer collaboration and coordination among IGAD member states.
The Government of Sweden is a Key partnership in supporting the IGAD initiatives.
