IGAD Teachers Training Initiative in Displacement – Affected Communities in the IGAD Region
The IGAD Teacher Training is a “pilot initiative”, implemented for teachers of displaced and refugee committees in three countries across the region (Ethiopia, Sudan, Uganda)
Following the teachers Needs Assessment in the three countries (April 2021), a set of training materials were developed, responding to the most urgent highlighted.
Annexes – Four Teacher Training Modules
The challenge for education in Refugee settings in the Horn of Africa are manifold.
Teachers do not have enough training and they teach with low-level of teaching skills.
They are also less prepared to address the specific situation of students who have been affected and impacted by conflict including trauma and gender-based violence.
