March 20, 2025 (Rome, Italy): The IGAD Special Envoy for South Sudan, Ambassador Ismail Wais (PhD), and the South Sudan Opposition Movements Alliance (SSOMA) led by its Chairperson General Thomas Cirillo met on the 19th and 20th of March 2025 in Rome, Italy. During the consultative meeting, SSOMA expressed its readiness to engage with the Government of the Republic of South Sudan with a goal of achieving inclusive and sustainable peace.
In light of this commitment, SSOMA agreed that IGAD and the Community of Sant’Egidio facilitate a pre-consultative meeting with the Government of the Republic of South Sudan at the earliest opportunity.
