February 22, 2025 (Nairobi, Kenya): The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) launched its Knowledge Management Strategy Framework today, advancing regional collaboration and innovation across the Horn of Africa. The Nairobi event convened IGAD’s knowledge management staff and leadership to establish a unified approach to knowledge sharing.
Deputy Executive Secretary, H.E. Mohamed Ware emphasized the strategy’s importance in addressing regional challenges. “The benefits of this strategy will be far-reaching. We anticipate enhanced decision-making, improved operational efficiency, stronger institutional memory, increased innovation, and better service delivery to our member states.”
The framework aligns with IGAD’s 2021-2025 strategy and encompasses knowledge capture, sharing, storage, transfer, utilization and security. It aims to strengthen organisational performance and promote a culture of knowledge sharing and collaboration.
“This strategy goes beyond mere information management; it fosters a culture where knowledge drives sustainable development,” H.E. Ware stated. “Together, we will ensure that information is not only accessible and actionable but also serves as a catalyst for innovation, resilience, and long-term progress.”
The initiative receives support from ISAP and the German government through GIZ.
