October 11, 2022 (Geneva, Switzerland): Dr. Workneh Gebeyehu, Executive Secretary, Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) and Ms Gillian Triggs, United Nation Deputy High Commissioner for Refugees, held a joint consultative meeting on the efforts of IGAD member states in responding to the needs of displaced populations and communities hosting them, today, in Geneva, Switzerland on the margin of the 73rd Session of the UNHCR Executive Committee
Both parties agreed on IGAD support platform, particularly, on joint resource mobilisation, strong partnership and on effective ways to show-case the IGAD member states initiatives in providing assistance to refugees and host communities in the lead up to the Global Refugee Forum in December 2023.
The IGAD support platform launched in 2019 has become an important vehicle in the mobilisation of political and financial support for the region. IGAD is an important ally in search for solutions.
