July 15, 2023 (DJIBOUTI, Djibouti): The Secretariat of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) is delighted to announce that our esteemed Executive Secretary, H.E. Dr. Workneh Gebeyehu, has been the recipient of the prestigious African Achievers Award at an event at the House of Lords in London on Friday the 14th of July 2023.
This accolade is a testament to Dr. Gebeyehu’s exceptional leadership and unwavering commitment to the advancement of Africa. His remarkable track record of achievements and relentless efforts in fostering peace, stability, and diplomacy have been duly recognised.
The African Achievers Award has a history of honouring outstanding individuals who have made remarkable contributions to African development, serving as an inspiration to many. Dr. Gebeyehu now joins this esteemed group of laureates, carrying on the tradition of extraordinary service to our continent.
Previous winners included the late Archbishop Desmond Tutu, H.E. Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, former Chairperson of the AU, and the late Prof. Attah Mills, former President of Ghana.
