Nairobi, Kenya | 25 June 2025: The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), through its Food Systems Resilience Program (FSRP), has successfully concluded the Expert Validation Meeting of the End Term Review Report of the Regional Agricultural Investment Plan. Held from 23 to 25 June 2025 in Nairobi, the three-day gathering brought together CAADP technical experts, representatives from IGAD Member States, and IGAD’s specialised institutions.

The meeting marked a significant milestone in IGAD’s ongoing efforts to strengthen regional agricultural coordination, align policy with the CAADP agenda, and ensure food security and resilience across the region.

During the sessions, participants critically examined the draft RAIP review report, focusing on regional and national performance, implementation challenges, and key lessons. Member States and the IGAD Secretariat engaged in robust group discussions and provided practical recommendations to enhance visibility, sustainability, and the future direction of agricultural investments in the region.

The validated report will serve as a foundational document for the development of the IGAD Regional Agri-Food Systems Investment Plan (RASIP) 2026 – 2035, a strategic framework aligned with the outcomes of the Kampala Declaration adopted by the AU in January 2025. RASIP will prioritise resilient food systems, sustainable agriculture, and equitable regional development.

Next Steps:

  • Final revisions to the RAIP review report based on stakeholder input
  • Integration of findings into the design of the RASIP framework
  • Strengthened partnerships for coordinated implementation across Member States

IGAD reaffirms its commitment to supporting agricultural transformation, improving livelihoods, and promoting regional integration through evidence-based planning and inclusive policy frameworks as per the Kampala Declaration.
