IGAD Chief Visits Newly Appointed Ambassador of Sudan to Djibouti

Djibouti, 09-05-2016: The Executive Secretary of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), HE Ambasador (Eng.) Mahboub Maalim, this morning paid a first courtesy visit to the newly appointed Ambassador of Sudan to Djibouti and member of the IGAD Committee of Ambassadors, HE Ambassador Hamza Elamin Ahmed.

Ambassador Ahmed reserved a warm welcome to the Executive Secretary in his office in the presence of his First Aide, Mr. Mada Elfatih.

The Executive Secretary briefed the Ambassador about the activities of IGAD in the Republic of Sudan, and informed him about the upcoming Meeting of the IGAD Committee of Ambassadors to be held in Addis Ababa on May 26th and 27th, 2016 for the purpose of consideration of approval of the IGAD Sectoral Strategies 2016-2020 in line with the ministerial delegated powers to Ambassadors.

Finally, the ES requested from the newly appointed Ambassador of SD to weigh in with fresh blood to help the regional organization with pending issues.

Ambassador Ahmed assured his visitor of his support to the organization, and said himself looking forward to meeting again at the upcoming meeting of the Committee of Ambassadors.###
