Launch of the South Sudan Durable Solution Strategy and Action Plan for Refugees, IDPs, Returnees and Host Communities
The Government of South Sudan is launching the Durable Solutions Strategy as a national policy to provide long-term, sustainable solutions for displaced populations in South Sudan, including refugees, internally displaced persons (IDPs), returnees and the host communities.
In October 2020, the IGAD Support Platform on Forced Displacement launched the Solutions Initiative for displacement situation in Sudan and South Sudan, together with the European Union and UNHCR. In November 2022, the draft regional strategy and an accompanying action plan were reviewed and validated by IGAD Member States and building on these, The Governments of Sudan and South Sudan initiated the process of developing national strategies and action plans.
