06-11-2018, Djibouti (Djibouti): The Executive Secretary of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development, H.E. Amb (Eng) Mahboub Maalim, this morning received credential letters from the Ambassador of Somalia to Djibouti and IGAD, H.E. Dr. Mohamed Ali-Nur Haji, who will also and subsequently be a member of the IGAD Committee of Ambassadors.

 

The same morning, the Executive Secretary also received the Ambassador of Sweden to Ethiopia and accredited to IGAD, H.E. Ambassador Torbjörn Pettersson, on a courtesy visit to the Secretariat. The Executive Secretary thanked Ambassador Peterson for the support provided by his country to the regional organisation and expressed his hope to see more interaction between IGAD and Sweden on the drought resilience regional agenda. He also acknowledged the substantial support provided by Sweden to IGAD Member States on a bilateral basis.

 The Executive Secretary then received the Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Ethiopia and Djibouti, H.E. Ambassador Susanna Moorehead, on a courtesy visit. The two parties discussed about the recent positive developments in the region and the operationalisation of the peace agreement in South Sudan. The Executive Secretary called for extended work relations with the UK and committed himself and his team to following up with identifying areas of future cooperation.
