Annual Ministerial Stock-take Meeting of the IGAD Support Platform and the Implementation of the Plan of Action for the Nairobi Declaration
The IGAD Secretariat under the IGAD Support Platform on Forced Displacement will convene the annual stock take meeting for the “Nairobi Process” in which IGAD Member States adopted comprehensive, ‘whole of society’ approach to enhance the protection and durable solutions for displacement affected population.
The 2017 Nairobi Declaration has since been translated into thematic declarations and plans of action on education, health, livelihood and self-reliance and expanded to include protection and environment/climate action. At the December 2019, Global Refugee Forum, the IGAD Support Platform was launched to sustain the momentum and galvanize additional support for the implementation of the Nairobi Declaration.
The stock take meeting will consist of two segments comprising of technical and ministerial meetings. Delegates at the technical meetings will present progress made in the implementation of the Nairobi Declaration and Plan of Action, as well as subsequent Initiatives, Declarations and Plans of Action (all referred to as “the IGAD Nairobi process”). Ministers in charge of refugee/internal affairs will convene to endorse the relevant policies and documents.
The Stock-take Meeting will be attended by Ministers, delegates and senior experts from IGAD member states, IGAD secretariat and humanitarian and development partners, civil society organizations, private sectors, refugee led organizations, refugee representatives among others.
