In his message to the family and the people of Nigeria, the Executive Secretary of IGAD Amb(Eng) Mahboub Maalim said “Chinua Achebe was a great champion for peace and justice on the African Continent; a legendary wordsmith who inspired generations through his writings. Africa has lost a great cultural icon whose contribution to literature and the arts is unmatched”.
