The IGAD Executive Secretary, Eng. Mahboub Maalim, and the WFP Deputy Executive Director for Hunger Solutions, Dr. Sheila Shisulu, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The MOU paves tihe way for enhanced collaboration and cooperation between the two organisations to improve food and nutrition security in the IGAD region. The MOU provides for the establishment of an Executive Body, a Technical Committee and a Coordination Office to spearhead the implementation of the MOU. Born in 1962 as a UN agency, WFP is the world’s largest humanitarian agency fighting hunger worldwide – reaching more than 90 million people.
