REQUEST FOR EXPRESSION OF INTEREST – (INDIVIDUAL CONSULTANT) 

ILLUSTRATOR and Infographic Designer-SHORT TERM ASSIGNMENT

 

BACKGROUND

 

The IGAD Center of Excellence for Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism (ICEPCVE) plans to hold a workshop in March Djibouti. The objective of the workshop is to enhance the skills of participants to develop and disseminate alternative and counter narratives to undermine and challenge violent extremists ideologies. The participants of the workshop will be equipped with storytelling skills that they can use and to develop narratives to share with their local networks and at-risk-communities.

In collaboration with the Global Engagement Center of the US State Department, ICEPCVE will implement an advanced three-day course is a highly practical training designed to enhance the skills of participants to produce infographics and illustrations to effectively prevent and counter violent extremist ideologies.

The IGAD Center of Excellence for Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism (ICEPCVE) now invite qualified Experts to apply for the above mentioned assignment.

OBJECTIVE OF THE CONSULTANCY: 

In collaboration with the Global Engagement Center of the US State Department, ICEPCVE will implement an advanced three-day course is a highly practical training designed to enhance the skills of participants to produce infographics and illustrations to effectively prevent and counter violent extremist ideologies.

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES OF THE CONSULTANCY: 

  1. To create four infographics in form of an A4 size leaflet or a foldable poster using the data and indicators that will be provided during the workshop. T
  2. To create four cartoon strips/story illustraions in form of an A1 size poster using the data and indicators that will be provided during the workshop.

The Graphic Designer will be responsible for:

  • Conceptualizing and designing engaging and message-targeted infographics and cartoon strips/story illustrations with messages to prevent and/or counter violent extremism.
  • Exploring and proposing innovative ways to convey data narratives
  • Ensuring that the materials developed promote peace, negotiation and dialogue and counter fake news and propaganda.

The preparation of the materials will require familiarization of the ICEPCVE Regional Strategy.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 

  • Degree in Graphic Design or related field
  • Expert knowledge in graphic design and graphic design software, including but not limited to Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects and Final Cut Pro.
  • Work experience with the non-profit sector
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and knowledge of best practices for infographic design and visualization
  • Extensive experience designing similar projects
  • Good communication and writing skills in English. Knowledge of French is an added advantage
  • Ability to plan, prioritize and produce quality results on time

DURATION OF THE ASSIGNMENT 

The consultancy will be undertaken over a period of 10 (ten) working days. Work will commence immediately after contract signing. This consultancy will be undertaken on site at the venue of the workshop and finalized through a home-based arrangement if need be. However, we prefer that the entire assignment is completed on site during the workshop. The consultancy fee will be paid in lump sum at the end of the consultancy and upon submission of the deliverables.
