Djibouti, 24th September 2020: The IGAD Executive Secretary, Dr. Workneh Gebeyehu (Ph.D) warmly congratulated H.E. Eng. Mohamed Hussein Roble on his appointment as the newly installed Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Somalia.
On behalf of IGAD, the Executive Secretary welcomed the new Prime Minister upon his assumption of office with a clear mandate and strong parliamentary support. The Executive Secretary said that IGAD was confident that with the endorsement of Somalia’s leadership, Prime Minister Roble has the full support necessary to effectively serve the people of Somalia.
He added that IGAD remains fully committed to supporting the post-conflict transition of the Federal Republic of Somalia, particularly ongoing security sector reforms and efforts to defeat transnational terror groups that continue pose a threat to the security and stability of our region.
