As part of a pilot initiative, IGAD trained 755 secondary school teachers in refugee settlements across three member states: Ethiopia, Sudan, and Uganda. This initiative received financial support from the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany through GIZ. The priority was given to member states that developed a multiyear national costed plan, and these three countries were the first to implement such a plan.
