IGAD Center for Pastoral Areas and Livestock Development (ICPALD) organized the second NEALCO meeting on July 04, 2014 in Naivasha, Kenya. NEALCO is a regional Livestock Stakeholders’ association with a mandate to promote, coordinate, share information and advocate for enhanced livestock and livestock products trade within and outside the region. The main objectives of the meeting were to discuss the promotion of NEALCO and its strategic plan, concretize action plans and enrich the draft concept note aimed at mobilizing resource to strengthen NEACLO
The Regional Pastoral Livestock Livelihood Resilience Project (RPLRP) workshop seeking to harmonize Kenya’s and Uganda’s cross-border activities kicked off today in Eldoret Kenya. This workshop aims to harmonize the work plan of the two countries, guide the implementation of the project activities within the Karamoja Cluster, discuss the plans for development of the project management information system (MIS), and detailed baseline studies for the different components.
This workshop is part of IGAD’s effort to coordinate regional investments to build drought resilience in the IGAD region and a follow up to high-level and technical consultations to prepare comprehensive investment programs for the pastoral areas of the IGAD region.
The African Union Inter-African Bureau for Animal Resources (AU-IBAR) in partnership with Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) with financial support from the United States Agency for International for Development / East Africa Mission (USAID/EA) are implementing the Standard Methods and Procedures in Animal Health Project (SMP-AH). The main aim of the project is to reduce poverty, and enhance and integrate regional economic growth in the IGAD region through improved access of live animal and animal products to regional and international markets. Its main focus is on supporting harmonization and coordination of the control of trade-related TADs in the region.
