19-08-2019, DJIBOUTI (Djibouti): The attention of IGAD Secretariat and IGAD South Sudan Office has been drawn to a Report in the South Sudan News Agency website (https://southsudannewsagency.org) headed Leaked memo: Uganda is the real threat to peace in South Sudan. The contents of the Report are attributed to an alleged IGAD Secretariat Internal Memo leaked to the South Sudan News Agency. The location and date are indicated as Addis Ababa, August 16, 2019 (SSNA).
(IGAD – Addis Ababa – May 30, 2019) The meeting of the Parties to discuss the modalities of reconstituting the Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration (DDR) Commission was launched today in Juba, South Sudan.
(May 5, 2019 - Addis Ababa) The Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, H.E. Taro Kono paid a courtesy call on IGAD Special Envoy for South Sudan, Ambassador Ismail Wais, in Addis Ababa during which time they discussed the progress of the implementation of the peace process of South Sudan.
The Foreign Minister of Japan emphasized the continued commitment of the government of Japan to the South Sudan peace process. He welcomed the extension of the pre-transitional period for an additional six months and hoped that the new extension will facilitate the completion of the pending critical tasks.
(May 3, 2019 - Addis Ababa) The meeting of the leadership of the Parties to the Revitalized Agreement on the Resolution of the Conflict in the Republic of South Sudan (R-ARCSS) was held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, from 2 to 3 May 2019.
