07-03-2021, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia: The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) Special Envoy for South Sudan, Amb. Dr. Ismail Wais received with great sorrow the sad news of the sudden and untimely demise of Hon. Joseph Ukel Abango, Leader of the United Sudan African Party (USAP), on Friday, 5th March 2021, in Juba, South Sudan. “He was indeed a veteran politician. What a great loss. His wisdom will be missed” said Amb. Dr. Wais.

Hon. Joseph Ukel Abango selflessly served as a public servant and senior politician having held positions of leadership in the Sudan. His footprint on the politics of Sudan and South Sudan is indeed indelible.
