The IGAD Special Envoy for South Sudan, Amb. Ismail Wais (PhD), congratulated the Revitalized Transitional Government of National Unity (RTGoNU) and the South Sudan Opposition Movements Alliance (SSOMA) led by Hon. Pagan Amum of Real SPLM and Gen. Paul Malong of SSUF/A on the signing of the Declaration of Recommitment to the Cessation of Hostilities Agreement of 21st December 2017, Rome Declaration of 12th January 2020 and Rome Resolution of 13th February 2020, on 8th March 2021 in Naivasha, Kenya.

Dr. Ismail Wais received with great sorrow the sad news of the sudden and untimely demise of Hon. Joseph Ukel Abango, Leader of the United Sudan African Party (USAP), on Friday, 5th March 2021, in Juba, South Sudan. “He was indeed a veteran politician. What a great loss. His wisdom will be missed” said Amb. Dr. Wais.
The IGAD Special Envoy for South Sudan, Amb. Ismail Wais (PhD) would like to congratulate the Parties and Stakeholders to the Revitalized Agreement on the Resolution of the Conflict in the Republic of South Sudan (R-ARCSS), the people of South Sudan as well as IGAD Member States and the International Community as we mark the first year anniversary of the formation of the Revitalized Transitional Government of National Unity (R-TGoNU) on 22nd February 2020.
September 30, 2020 (ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia): IGAD Special Envoy for South Sudan is dismayed by reports of fighting between forces affiliated to Gen. Moses Lokujo and SPLM/A-IO forces in Endejo in Yei River area on 29th September 2020. It will be recalled that Gen. Lokujo recently announced his defection from SPLM/A-IO to the SSPDF.
