(May 5, 2019 - Addis Ababa) The Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, H.E. Taro Kono paid a courtesy call on IGAD Special Envoy for South Sudan, Ambassador Ismail Wais, in Addis Ababa during which time they discussed the progress of the implementation of the peace process of South Sudan.

The Foreign Minister of Japan emphasized the continued commitment of the government of Japan to the South Sudan peace process. He welcomed the extension of the pre-transitional period for an additional six months and hoped that the new extension will facilitate the completion of the pending critical tasks.
