Under the auspices  of the Community of Sant'Egidio in Rome, and witnessed by IGAD, the government of South Sudan, the South Sudan Opposition Movements Alliance (SSOMA), The SPLM/A-IO, and NDM has signed a peace declaration in which they recommit to the Secession of Hostilities Agreement of December 2017 to avoid confrontation between the signatories and non-signatories parties of South Sudan peace agreement. The parties called for continued and uninterrupted humanitarian access to the local and international organization.

Nov. 18, 2019 (JUBA, South Sudan) IGAD Special Envoy for South Sudan, Ambassador Dr. Ismail Wais, presided over a two-day workshop for the security mechanisms of the Revitalized Agreement of the Resolution of the Conflict on South Sudan (R-ARCSS). The workshop was organized in collaboration with the Reconstituted Joint Monitoring and Evaluation Commission (R-JMEC), the Ceasefire & Transitional Security Arrangements Monitoring & Verification Mechanism (CTSAMVM) and the African Union Commission (AUC). The workshop will focus on producing a costed work plan and matrix with specific timelines and responsibilities that conform to the agreed upon one hundred (100) days extension.

(November 9, 2019 ADDIS ABABA) The leadership of the Parties to the Revitalized Agreement of Resolution of the Conflict on South Sudan (R-ARCSS) convened a meeting in Addis Ababa to discuss about the implementation of the peace agreement. This meeting comes a day after the two Principals, President Salva Kiir Mayardir and SPLM-IO leader Riek Machar agreed to extend the Pre-Transitional period for 100 days, beyond the November 12 deadline.

A meeting of Regional and International Special Envoys to South Sudan took place from 25th to 26th October 2019 in Djibouti, the Republic of Djibouti, with a view to take stock of the implementation of pre-transitional tasks of the Revitalized Agreement on the Resolution of the Conflict in the Republic of South Sudan (R-ARCSS) and better coordinate efforts in mobilizing the required support to the peace process in South Sudan.
