The IGAD Security Sector Program (IGAD SSP) in partnership and collaboration with Global Counter Terrorism Forum (GCTF) convened a three (3) days counter terrorism workshop from 26th to 28th October 2015 in Nairobi, Kenya. The focus of this training workshop was on “Development and Use of Forensic Evidence in Counterterrorism as a Good Practice in Investigation and Prosecution of Terrorism Cases in the Horn and East Africa Region".
Djibouti, 29-08-2015: A two-day Experts workshop on Countering Violent Extremism (CVE) in the Horn and Eastern Africa closed today in Djibouti under the auspices of the Executive Secretary of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), HE Ambassador Mahboub Maalim, the Charge’ of the United Sates Embassy to Djibouti, HE Christina Higgins, and the Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Djibouti, Mr. Mohamed Ali.
Nairobi, Kenya, 21st August 2015: This morning the Office of the IGAD Executive Secretary hosted a breakfast meeting for development partners on counter violent extremism (CVE) in Nairobi.
The meeting that was organized in collaboration with the BRAVE (Building Resilience Against Violent Extremism) initiative brought together representatives from embassies, high commissions and diplomatic missions, as well as officials from relevant government institutions including the ministries of foreign affairs, interior and coordination of national development.
Addis Ababa, July 15, 2015: The Executive Secretary of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), HE Ambassador (Eng.) Mahboub Maalim, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with H.E. Ambassador Peter LAUNSKY, Director General for Development Cooperation-Federal Ministry for Europe, Integration and Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Austria at IGAD office in Addis Ababa yesterday.
The IGAD Mediation Support Unit (MSU) and Conflict Early Warning and Response Mechanism (CEWARN) are co-convening a training on Conflict-Sensitive Reporting and Peace Messaging for South Sudanese Journalists from 18-22 May 2015 in Juba.
