March 29, 2026 (DJIBOUTI, Djibouti) — The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) is closely monitoring developments in the South West State of the Federal Republic of Somalia, a founding Member State of the Organisation.
IGAD expresses concern over rising tensions and calls on all parties to exercise restraint and avoid actions that may escalate the situation. Differences between the Federal Government and Federal Member States should be resolved through inclusive dialogue and established national mechanisms.
IGAD reaffirms its commitment to supporting Somalia’s peace, stability, and unity, and stands ready to facilitate dialogue and reconciliation efforts.
