Nov. 27, 2018, DJIBOUTI (Djibouti): The Executive Secretary of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), H.E. Amb (Eng) Mahboub Maalim, this morning was at the Embassy of Ethiopia to Djibouti to wish farewell to the Ambassador of Ethiopia and Chair of IGAD Committee of Ambassadors, H.E. Ambassador Shamebo Fitamo, who is called for other functions in his home country.

23 November, 2018, NAIROBI (Kenya): H.E.ALI Ibrahim Roba, the Governor of Mandera County, Kenya hosted IGAD Executive Secretary HE, Amb.(Eng) Mahboub Maalim in Nairobi on Friday November 23^rd 2019,to discuss support for the  Mandera County Government projects.

The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) and the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (IDEA) on the 17^th of November signed a memorandum of understanding in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The MoU was signed by the Executive Secretary of IGAD, Eng (Amb) Mahboub Maalim and IDEA’s Africa and West Asia Regional Director, Prof Adebayo Olukoshi at the International IDEA offices.

November 15, 2018   - The Executive Secretary of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) warmly welcomes the UNSC unanimous decision to lift the sanctions on Eritrea that stayed for the last nine years.

11-11-2018, Djibouti (Djibouti): The Executive Secretary of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), H.E. Amb (Eng) Mahboub Maalim, today was received by the Ambassador of China to Djibouti, H.E. Zhuo Ruisheng, at the Embassy of China.

 The Ambassador of China lauded the Executive Secretary and the regional organization under his leadership for the tremendous amount of work towards and peace and development in the region. He assured him of China’s support in this Endeavour.

 The Executive Secretary acknowledged China’s growing partnership with IGAD Member States entrusted in win-win and strong bilateral relations. He called on the Ambassador of China to assist in escalating the relations China has with the regional organization by being accredited to IGAD.

 The Executive Secretary also availed himself for a working visit to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China for the purpose of bringing IGAD’s agenda to the attention of the highest diplomatic level.

 The visit by the ES to the Ambassador of China was also the opportunity to receive a grant of 100,000.00 USD to the regional organization; which grant has been in effect the recent years.

05-11-2018, Djibouti (Djibouti): The Executive Secretary of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), Amb (Eng) Mahboub Maalim, held talks with Mr. Evan Achoki, the County Commissioner of Mombasa (Kenya), and Mr. John Kilonzi, the Director of Peace and Security of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kenya.

The Executive Secretary updated them on the programmes and activities that IGAD is undertaking in promoting regional peace and security.

 Mr. Achoki and Mr. Kilonzi commended Amb Maalim for the great achievements that IGAD has registered under his leadership.
