Nairobi, 10 December 2013 - President of the Republic of Kenya, H.E Uhuru Kenyatta, has launched the ECA commissioned publication of the Sustainable Tourism Master Plan for the Inter-Governmental Authority on Development (IGAD) region 2013-2023.

The launch of Sustainable Tourism Master plan in Nairobi was also graced by the vice president of Kenya, Hon. William Samoei Ruto and senior officials of in charge of Tourism in IGAD member countries: Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan and Uganda.

The Executive Secretary of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), HE Ambassador (Engineer) Mahboub Maalim, conveys his deepest and sincere condolences to the family members of Nelson Mandela, and to the people and the government of South Africa following the painful loss of Nelson Mandela.

“The loss of the anti-apartheid hero is a loss not only for South Africa, but also for the entire world. The first elected President in the history of South Africa was and will always be a source of inspiration for all of us. Nelson Mandela was an example of courage, determination, and humanity. He was an accomplished statesman who is still shining on us.”

The IGAD Centre for Pastoral Areas and Livestock Development (ICPALD) held its Strategic Plan Workshop on the 25th and 26th of November, 2013 at the Royal Suites Hotel in Kampala, Uganda.

The workshop was officiated by the Acting Director of ICPALD, Dr Solomon Munyua. In attendance were Chief Veterinary Officers, Focal persons, Directors of Veterinary Services, representatives from the Ministries of Livestock, Rangeland, Fisheries and Marine Resources from the member states; partners from FAO, AU-IBAR, VSF-Germany; representatives from IGAD Secretariat and ICPALD staff members.

Djibouti, 27-11-2013: The Executive Secretary of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), HE Ambassador (Engineer) Mahboub Maalim, this morning received the Ambassador of China to Djibouti, HE Ambassador Fu Huaqiang, in his office for the signature ceremony of a grant of US$100,000 from the Embassy to IGAD Secretariat.

Suleiman Dedefo Woshe , the Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Djibouti , HEM Mohamed Ali Hassan, and the Executive Secretary of IGAD, Ambassador Mahboub Maalim .
