Education, Science, Technology and Innovation (ESTI)

The ESTI Program deals with all levels Education (from Pre-primary, to primary and tertiary education as wel! Skills building throu TVET and other pathway. The ESTI emanated from the Djibouti Declaration (DD) and implements a number of imitatives or sub programs, such as the IGAD Qualifications Framework (IGADQF), the IGAD Teacher Training Initiative (ITTI), IGAD Scholarship Prgram, IGAD Universities Forum/ IGAD Council of Higher Education (ICHE), and others.

• To support Member States in fullfilig their national, regional and international commitments in education/ training;
• To help Member States promote regional cooperation in the fields education, science, technology and innovation
• To use education and science as tools for regional integration
• To address the needs special categories of the region’s population
• To provide regional and national platforms for sharing experiences and good practices.

The focus of the IGAD ESTI is on:

• Regional Quality Standards for education/training though the IGADQF
• ITTI
• IGAD Regional Scholarship Scheme
• IGDA University Forum, especially serving IGAD as an advisory body for Scholarships and joint research

All the aim at policy/strategic coherence and addressing the education/training needs of refugees, returnees and IDPs as well as other special needs groups.
