The development of the Second IGAD Regional Strategy for the Development of Statistics (RSDS II), 2026–2030, represents a significant milestone in efforts to strengthen the production of reliable, harmonised and policy-relevant statistics across the region. The Strategy is the result of a collaborative process involving numerous institutions and experts whose dedication, knowledge and commitment have been instrumental in bringing this important initiative to fruition.
The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) gratefully acknowledges the institutions and individuals whose contributions made the preparation of this Strategy possible. Sincere appreciation is extended to the African Union Institute for Statistics (STATAFRIC) for the financial and technical support it provided to the development and validation of the Strategy.
IGAD also acknowledges the technical contributions of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), the African Development Bank (AfDB), PARIS21, UN Women and other development partners, including Statistics Sweden, the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), which provided strategic guidance, technical review and specialised inputs throughout the process.
