Nairobi, 19th Nov, 2013 - A Post Conflict Reconstruction and Development Training was conducted from the 18th to the 22nd of November 2013 in the Kenyan Capital, Nairobi. The participants were Women from the Somalia, South Sudan and Sudan.
A recent Illegal Unregulated and Unreported [IUU] Fisheries workshop held in Djibouti by the Inter-Governmental Authority for Development [IGAD] for East Africa and facilitated by the Fish I Africa Organisation and the African Maritime Safety and Security Agency finalised in an unanimous decision from the high level delegates to formalise the development of a task force focused on the advancement of sustainable fisheries for the Horn of Africa sub regions; the delegates were representative of the Somalia Federal Government, Somaliland, Puntland and Djibouti,.
The Peace and Security Division of IGAD Secretariat through the Political Affairs Program facilitated the development of a Regional Code of Conduct on Election Observation and Guidelines for Election Observers.
One of the main responsibilities of the Political Affairs Program under the Peace and Security Division, is to facilitate IGAD’s participation in Election observation in IGAD Member States. The Program has thus far, facilitated IGAD’s participation in the following:
(IGAD - Khartoum) The 6th Regular Session of the Regional Steering Committee of IGAD NGOs/CSOs Forum organised by the Political Affairs of the Peace and Security Division met in Khartoum, Sudan from 17th to 19th of June, 2013. Government and NGOs/CSOs were the participants of the meeting.
