16-10-2018, Nairobi (Kenya): The Directors in charge of land management and agriculture at the Member States of Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) this morning kick started a one-day workshop aimed at preparing for the Ministerial level meeting on mainstreaming land governance to be held in Nairobi on October 18^th.

25-09-2018, Kisumu (Kenya): The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) this morning opened the 3rd Sio-Malaba-Malakasi (SMM) Basin Stakeholders’ Consultative Meeting between Kenyan and Ugandan water officials and other  experts drawn from  Ministries of Foreign Affairs and AG Chambers,  in Kisumu , Kenya.

The IGAD region has a wealth of knowledge and experiences on land governance. However, documentation and dissemination of the region’s experiences is limited. The IGAD Land Governance Project with support from UNECA and the Swiss Agency for Development Cooperation SDC is launching an e-based knowledge management platform – The IGAD Land governance Portal to meet this need.

13-09-2018, Addis Ababa: The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) yesterday concluded a two-day meeting with development partners within the framework of the Joint Financing Agreement (JFA) for the IGAD Strengthening Action Plan Working Group (ISAP) and the Peace and Security one in Addis Ababa.

IGAD hosted a high-level consultation meeting on inter-state cooperation in the Karamoja Cluster on 26 July 2018 in Moroto town, Uganda. The meeting was attended by Ministers in-charge of resilience as well as other senior officials from Ethiopia, Kenya, South Sudan and Uganda. Representatives of relevant programmes of IGAD such as the IGAD Drought Disaster Resilience and Sustainability Initiative (IDDRSI), IGAD Centre For Pastoral Areas Development And Livestock Development (ICPALD), the Peace and Security Division (PSD) as well as representatives of development partners were also present.
