The Executive Secretary of IGAD, Ambassador (Eng.) Mahboub Maalim today condemned “in the strongest terms” the terror attack against the Garissa University College in Garissa, northeastern Kenya, which resulted in the loss of 147 innocent lives.
“As a region, we are saddened by this barbaric act of terrorism,” said Amb Maalim, “and extend our deepest condolences to the Government and People of Kenya, particularly to the parents and families of the victims.
The Executive Secretary reiterates the commitment of the IGAD Secretariat to continue working with its Member States as they strive to bring stability to the region.
“IGAD will continue to work with Kenya and other countries in the region in the fight against terrorism,” he said, urging Kenyans not to be divided along religious lines.
