November 14, 2021 (DJIBOUTI, Djibouti): The Executive Secretary of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), Dr Workneh Gebeyehu, congratulates the Government and people of Somalia for the successful completion of the election of the Upper House of parliament.
The Executive Secretary applauds the Somalia leadership, institutions and stakeholders for this important milestone. He encouraged all stakeholders to maintain the same spirit and ensure the election of the Lower House is also concluded without further delay.
The conclusion of the Somali electoral process will afford the Somali people the opportunity to focus on state building, peace building, economic development and stability.
