Nairobi, 19th Nov, 2013 – A Post Conflict Reconstruction and Development Training was conducted from the 18th to the 22nd of November 2013 in the Kenyan Capital, Nairobi. The participants were Women from the Somalia, South Sudan and Sudan.

The training was attended by representatives from the Peace Commissions, Parliaments, women’s and youth associations and the media.

The major objective of this training is to contribute to the efforts of member states at addressing post-conflict issues and strengthening peace building capacities with particular emphasis on countries that are emerging from conflicts.

At the training the following subject were covered in detail: concept of conflict, understanding and analyzing conflict, unpacking the causes and determinants of conflicts, conflict analysis, mapping and early warning, third party intervention in conflict and mediation among others.

This activity is in line with the IGAD Regional Post-conflict Reconstruction and Development (PCRD) framework validated in Khartoum in June 2013 which identified capacity building exercises as one of the core focus areas of post-conflicts reconstruction and development.
