23-05-2018, Addis Ababa (Ethiopia): The Executive Secretary of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), H.E. Amb (Eng) Mahboub Maalim, yesterday signed a Financing Agreement with the Ambassador of Ireland to Ethiopia, H.E. Sonja Hyland, in the IGAD premises in Addis Ababa.
Ireland is providing financial support worth 200,000 Euros to the IGAD-led High Level Revitalisation Forum (HLRF) of the Agreement on the Resolution of Conflict in South Sudan.
Ambassador Maalim, in a Tweet, said that “as a protracted process, no amount of support is modest” before expressing his gratitude to HE Amb Sonja Hyland.
The Embassy of Ireland on its side tweeted that they were “very pleased to sign Ireland’s first financing agreement with IGAD”. “IGAD is playing a vital role in revitalizing the South Sudan peace process. Without peace, the humanitarian crisis cannot be resolved”, the Embassy added.
The Continued Phase II of the HLRF is to close this evening after a week deliberations and negotiations in Addis Ababa.
