06-06-2018, Djibouti (Djibouti): The Executive Secretary of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), H.E. Amb (Eng) Mahboub Maalim, yesterday signed a Financing Agreement with the Ambassador of Germany to Djibouti, H.E. Amb. Volker Berresheim, at the Headquarters of the regional organisation in Djibouti.

This agreement, regarding a technical cooperation with IGAD, is intending to contribute to the social and economic development in IGAD Member States. More specifically, the Agreement stipulates that “Germany and IGAD shall collaborate within the technical cooperation framework on the project Cross-Border Collaboration West Ethiopia/Eastern Sudan”.

 The contribution totalling four (4) million Euros is to be utilised within a period of four years with technical assistance from the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) for the implementation of the project.

 And it is just after the brief signature ceremony that GIZ Country Director-Ethiopia, Dr. Matthias Rompel, separately came to visit IGAD Executive Secretary in his office.
