30 November to 2 December, 2020 (Bishoftu, Ethiopia) -The IGAD Peace and Security Division successfully concluded three days of annual meeting with officials represented from IGAD Member States.
The meeting was official opened by Hon. Siraj Fegessa, director of IGAD Peace and Security Division. In his opening remarks, Hon. Siraj mentioned the impacts of COVID-19 on Peace and Security in the Region and the implementation of the work plan of 2020, and IGAD’s Regional Response Strategy to COVID-19. The director also highlighted the purpose and expected results of the meeting.
The objectives of the annual meeting are update the member states on the implementation of the peace and security strategy (2016-20), the IPPSHAR project and consult on the next strategy of 2021-2025. The division also presented the draft framework of IGAD Youth Forum for Peace.
The annual meeting was attended by IGAD focal points at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and officials from peace and security related Institutions of Member States, ADA team leader of the IPPSHAR project, senior management team members of IGAD Peace and security offices amongst others.
This annual meeting was conducted with the financial support of the European Union through the IPPSHAR Program co-managed by the Austrian Development Agency (ADA).
