27-09-2017, Zagreb (Croatia): The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) has organized a study tour to Europe that started today in Zagreb for officials and experts from Member States Ministries in charge of Water Resources.
The study tour will take the participants from Djibouti, Ethiopia, Kenya, South Sudan, Sudan, and Uganda to Croatia and Germany. They will be visiting the International Sava River Basin Commission (Zagreb), the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Environmental Law Centre (Bonn) and the International Commission for the Protection of the Rhine (Koblenz) and meeting with counterparts.
The participants of the tour this morning were welcomed at the International Sava River Basin Commission by Dragan Zeljko, Secretary of the International Commission for the Protection of the Sava.
The participants will interact with their counterparts with discussions focusing on transboundary water cooperation.
This study tour is meant to expose participants to best practices in trans-boundary water resources sharing and share information.
The participants will next visit the IUCN Environmental Law Centre in Bonn, Germany
The tour is organized in partnership with the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe with financial support from the US State Department.
