A high level training on peace-building and mediation was convened in Nairobi for delegates from IGAD Member States. Aimed at building the capacity of the Member States, the training will build on the understanding of the participants on conflict analysis in their countries for the design of comprehensive program to build the mediation capacity of the Member States.
“Today, the struggle and the path of events to establish peace in Africa require well equipped and committed people,” said the Executive Secretary of IGAD, Ambassador Mahboub Maalim. “That is why mediation should be regarded as a specialized and skilled undertaking.”
It is expected delegates to agree on the mechanism to develop and implement national action points that will link to the regional efforts for mediation.
