The Executive Secretary of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), Amb. Mahboub Maalim this morning had substantive meeting with the Staff Members of IGAD South Sudan Office (ISSO) on the Secretariat’s continued engagement  on the implementation of the IGAD led peace agreement on South Sudan.

The Executive Secretary hailed  the South Sudan peace agreement that was signed last year and promised that IGAD will continue to be engaged  and will work closely with the signatories, Governments of IGAD Member States and  partners to ensure that the agreement is implemented fully and in a timely manner with the parties staying on course  to ensure peace and development of their country

During the meeting, the Executive Secretary tasked his team to come up with strategies to enhance cooperation with all the stakeholders and partners in South Sudan and IGAD Member States and to support the implementation of the peace process, in the areas of human rights, humanitarian efforts and capacity building of South Sudan.

Ato Daniel Yifru, IGAD’s Peace and Security Adviser and Coordinator of the South Sudan Office will consult IGAD Member States and partners to enhance engagement in South Sudan.
