The Executive Secretary, Eng. Mahboub Maalim, has made a courtesy visit to the Ambassador of Cuba to Ethiopia. The officials exchanged wide ranging views, including the relationship between Cuba and IGAD Secretariat.

Cuba assists some of IGAD Member states with medical scholarships and provision of experts ranging from sports to engineering. There are over thirty thousand Cuban professionals providing assistance in different capacities throughout the world according to the Ambassador.
