Djibouti, September 5, 2013: The Minister of Agriculture, Water, Fisheries, Animal and Maritime Resources, HE Mohamed A. Awale, and the Executive Secretary of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), HE Ambassador (Engineer) Mahboub Maalim, signed a Memorandum of Understanding this morning in the premises of the Ministry.

 

 

Under this MoU, IGAD will support the Ministry of Agriculture in the implementation of the project entitled The Drylands Project for Djibouti through the technical assistance necessary to achieve sustainable livelihoods and to improve community services such as community health services, education, livestock, fisheries, agricultural production in drylands, and veterinary services.

 

The project with a total cost of U.S. $ 15 million, will contribute to improving the services mentioned above in the areas of Khor Angar and Daasbyo. The Islamic Development Bank shall participate in the financing of the project through loan operations for an amount of 10 million USD.
