Djibouti, 05-11-2015: IGAD held a consultative meeting whose aim was to strengthen and establish a biodiversity database and information systems at national and regional levels on 3-5 November 2015 at Sheraton Hotel in Djibouti.

The process is a component of the IGAD Biodiversity Programme, which is supported by EU to a tune of 14 million Euros.

The objective of the programme is to enhance the sustainable management of biodiversity resources through capacity development at national and regional levels, harmonization and development of common biodiversity policy and database and information system in the region.

The meeting was attended by experts from member states’s institutions dealing with biodiversity management, IGAD Secretariat, relevant regional and global biodiversity database centers and initiatives.
