Nairobi, Kenya: The National Youth Summit 2013 is planned to take place on 31st January and 1st February 2013 at the Kenyatta International Conference Centre (KICC), Nairobi. this is part of an extensive process that supports dialogue on how the youth can be the drivers of peaceful co-existence and accountable government as the critical foundations for a prosperous Kenya.
The summit will bring together over 2000 youth from all the 47 counties, many of them leaders of groups and organizations, and will also be beamed live to thousands more in the country and abroad. Its mission is to inspire pride and patriotism among the youth by providing a platform for them to discuss issues based on leadership, peace building, entrepreneurship and their role in governance.
The summit is therefore a forum for young leaders and the groups that they lead and inspire. The genesis of this summit began with county-based sensitization forums in all the regions of the country from October 2012 culminating in the National Youth Summit in Nairobi.
The whole initiative is supported by Brand Kenya Board (BKB), the National Youth Sector Alliance, the Inter Governmental Authority on Development (IGAD), Global Peace Youth Corp (GPYC), and the Kenya Youth Empowerment Program (KYEP), the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports among other groups powerfully aware that Kenya’s present and past will be determined by its young population.
The organizing committee will be calling on your support and cooperation in the coming days leading to the summit. For more information, please contact one of the undersigned persons.
